| Soft or lost edges that fade into the background. Take a brush dip it in clean water then blot most of the water out of the brush leaving it damp. Right after you make a stroke of paint that you want to lose or soften, pick up the damp clean brush and pass it over the edge you want to lose. The clean brush knocks the edge off and the paint melts into the clean damp area, next to where the hard edge was. A word of Caution, be sure the brush with the clean water has been blotted otherwise you will place too much water into the hard edge causing the paint to back run. Make sure you clean and re-blot the brush. The brush must be clean and moist for a good soft edge. Practice this on scrap paper and soon you will be doing this technique before you can say hot dog.
